Hamre - Where my family is from

This place in Norway is where my family is from and where I spent many summers fishing and spending time with my family. Hamre is located far from anythin and it was only some 10-15 years ago that a road was brought there. The place has all of my family living there, off course they live other were also ;-). My family is mostly in the business of timber or construction.

I like fishing a lot. The fishes there are typical for the norwegian countryside and are fishes such as salmon and codfish. The way to catch these fishes are many. There are the traditional ways to catch the fishes where the fishing line is being controlled manually and there is the modern way with a fishing rod. Then there are the fishing nets which are lowered into the water at night and pulled from the sea in the morning.

More advanced and more expensive methods of fishing are also available. This is a popular pastime also for the local residents. Other things to do in the area is hiking the trails in the mountains or sailing on the fjords. There is off course also homemade beer and wine but it has been a while since I have drunken alcohol so it will have to wait. Hamre is part of Hordaland and near Bergen the second biggest city in Norway.
